Wedding DJ FAQ | Bash The DJ

Here are answers to the most common questions couples ask when booking Bash The DJ for their wedding. If you don’t see your question here, feel free to reach out — I’m always happy to help.

🕰 Hours, Pricing & Payments

How many hours are included?

Packages are customized based on your vision for your day. Most weddings last from about 4–7 hours including the reception and, depending on your needs, the ceremony, dinner, and cocktail hour. Set-up and Breakdown time is included in every package.  If you're wedding is more than an hour drive a travel fee may be added to the quote.

Can we add extra hours?

After party? Absolutely! Additional hours can be added in advance or on the wedding day at a rate of $100 per hour (availability and venue permitting).

How much does a wedding DJ cost?

Pricing varies based on coverage time, sound system needed, lighting, and logistics. Custom quotes ensure you only pay for what you need. The base package price in the services section can go up or down depending on travel time and the scope of your needs. Are you having a small, intimate wedding? or big-time extravaganza? Let's chat and I can put a package together to accomodate any vision and budget.

Do you offer any kind of discounts?

Yes! There's a section of the intake form where you can let me know any details like if you or your fiance are military service members, first responders, teachers, nurses, etc. We can always customize a package for your needs and/or budget. Don't need so many lights? Great! That takes a piece off the rate! Getting married during the daytime or off-season? That'll help since I'll probably be wanting to fill the dates. Let's have a conversation and we can figure out something that get you to that warm and fuzzy feeling.

What forms of payment do you accept?

We all know cash is king but I accept checks, money orders, and mobile payments via Zelle, Venmo, or PayPal. A 50% deposit is due at the time of contract signing.

🎧 Music & Performance

What kind of music do you play?

Everything is customized to you. I regularly play:

  • Top 40, Rock & Pop

  • Club, Hip‑Hop & R&B

  • Disco Throwbacks & Sing-Along Classics

  • Latin - Salsa, Bachata, Cumbia, Merengue, Regional and Reggaeton

  • House - Dance - EDM

  • and Sounds from All Over the World

Clean edits are always available!

Can we choose our songs?

Absolutely. Your preferences will guide the soundtrack for the evening!

You’ll be able to:

  • Choose songs for first dance(s)

  • Create a Must-Play list for reception

  • Share playlists with friends and family to get their input

  • List do‑not‑play songs and anything to avoid

Keep in mind that most "dance time" is limited to about 2 hours so there's no guarantee EVERY song will be played. Requests, time limitations, and general vibes will inevitably have an impact on the day. Your wedding DJ will also read the crowd and insert appropriate selections that might not be on your playlist.

That being said, if you want your wedding DJ to strictly adhere to your playlist, they will happily do so! Please be specific about timing of songs and the way you'd like mixed, if you'd like them mixed at all.

Do you take guest requests?

Yes — as long as they fit your vibe and do‑not‑play list. I note where we are in the evening, read the crowd, and maintain the right energy at the right time. Fun tunes for cocktail hour. Chill vibes for dinner. And the right mix to keep the dance floor packed!

Are you bilingual?

Yes. I can DJ and MC in fluent English and Spanish. I'll be able to take requests and make announcements in either or both languages depending on your needs. I also have extensive experience mixing songs in English and Spanish. Or we can focus on either language for the entire night.

🎤 MC & Event Flow

Do you act as the MC?

Yes. I provide professional MC services, including introductions, announcements, and smooth transitions for instance from cocktail hour to reception — never cheesy or over‑the‑top but I can always hype up the dance floor whenever necessary.

Will you help us plan the timeline?

Absolutely! I'll work with you (and your planner, if applicable), your other vendors (photographer, officiant, caterer, etc), and your wedding party to create a clear, stress‑free timeline for your ceremony and reception.

If you're not working with a planner, I have no problem helping put together a timeline, getting people lined up, and getting everything done in an orderly manner.

💍 Ceremony & Cocktail Hour

Do you provide ceremony sound?

Yes. I can provide:

  • Pre-Ceremony Music

  • Ceremony/Procession Music

  • Wireless microphone(s) for officiant and vows

    • Lappell mics can be provided upon request

Can you provide music for cocktail hour?

Yes. Cocktail hour music is a popular add‑on and helps create a seamless flow into the reception. You can create a custom playlist for your wedding dj to use during cocktail hour or they will create one to fit the general vibe you want for the evening.

💡 Equipment & Setup

What equipment do you use?

I only use professional‑grade sound and lighting equipment. It consists of two speaker systems, RCF Evox8's, that look clean, modern, and sounds great in any venue, DJ table and/or DJ facade to fit into whatever space is available, Shure and Phenyx Pro Wireless Microphones, Professional Light Fixtures, Elegant Stands and Support Towers, and Clean Cable Discipline.

Do you bring backup equipment?

Always. Backup gear is on‑hand for peace of mind. The show must go on and the music will be playing!

How much space do you need?

Typically 6–8 square feet for the DJ setup. I’ll usually coordinate with your venue and can bring my own table if necessary. So you won't have to worry about it on the day whatsoever.

✨ Lighting & Enhancements

Do you offer lighting upgrades?

Yes. Lighting can range from a set of basic, color-changing wash/flood lights to a whole array of lighting including motion effects, strobes, gobos, and uplights. Optional enhancements include:

  • Basic Dance Floor Lighting

  • Motion Effect Lights

  • Moving Head Spot Lights

  • Uplighting to match your wedding colors

Lighting upgrades can dramatically enhance photos and the overall atmosphere.

📅 Availability & Booking

How far in advance should we book our wedding DJ?

Most couples book 9–15 months in advance, especially for popular spring and fall dates. Prime Saturdays can book quickly, so the sooner you reach out, the better. I also offer discounts for weekday and off season weddings.

How do we officially reserve our date?

Your date is secured with a signed contract and retainer. Once both are completed, your wedding date is locked into my calendar.

Do you book more than one wedding per day?

No. I only book one wedding per day so your event has my full focus and energy.

  • Berks County

  • Bucks County

  • Chester County

  • Delaware County

  • Lancaster County

  • Montgomery County

📝 Final Details

Will we meet before the wedding?

Yes. We’ll have planning calls leading up to your wedding to finalize music, timeline, and details. If possible we could even meet in-person beforehand.

What happens if something unexpected comes up?

I come prepared with backup equipment and a solid plan. I also work with various partners and other DJ companies who would provide coverage should I be absolutely unable to make it on the day.

There are always unexpected things that come up on the day. The weather takes a turn, traffic leaving the ceremony, or Uncle Bob wants to say a few words, anything and everything can happen but this is why we go through so much preparation and do our best to cover any and every detail that may need to be addressed.

My goal is for your day to run smoothly — no stress.
